Week 4: Restorative & Pranayama.

If there are more than 4 weeks in the month, Maggie focuses on something in particular like shoulder work.

Yoga & Meditation holiday

8-15 October 2023

Dalyan, Turkey

FULLY BOOKED - CONTACT ME TO GET ON THE WAITING LIST

Maggie will be teaching a yoga & meditation holiday in the idyllic setting on the Dalyan River in Turkey. This is a very clean, brackish river, only twenty minutes by water taxi to the gorgeous Itzuzu Beach, heritage site for nesting loggerhead turtles.

There will be a total of ten yoga classes, scheduled so that we have some time off to explore this wonderful region. Classes are suitable for people of all abilities as long as they have some yoga experience.

There is a full set of yoga equipment, so you can pack lightly! We stay in the friendly family-run Likya Pension, in a combination of twin or double rooms, each with a private simple bathroom. The Likya is on the river, with a platform for swimming and sunbathing, a bar and a courtyard with chairs for reading and relaxing. It is about a five minute walk to a corner supermarket and 10 minutes to the centre of Dalyan, with a huge choice of restaurants and shops.

There is plenty of time for you to explore the wetlands area, archeological sites (Kaunos) and other local attractions if you are interested in outings, or to simply relax with a good book or visit the beach. There are bikes available for hire if you want to explore the area more fully.

Ahmet, the Likya owner, also runs award-winning boat tours, so he will host us on two different boat cruises – a sunset cruise upstream to the lake and thermal springs and mud bath then to the beach for the sunset, and another along the beach and up the coast. There will be an extensive home-cooked meal on board on each of these trips (with veggie, meat or fresh fish options).

Your holiday Includes:

• Group Meditations Morning & Evenings

• 10 yoga classes

• 7 nights’ accommodation - prices are per person

• Extensive buffet breakfast every day after the morning class

* Two half day boat excursions including an extensive BBQ lunch/dinner

• Dinner at the pension three nights, plus one lunch and one dinner on the boat • Airport transfer on arrival

Not included:

• Flights and transport on return trip to the airport • Soft drinks and alcohol.

• Optional massage on site

Price : £618 per person for sharing a twin or double room (with someone you know) and £718 for a single occupancy room.

Getting there and getting around: There are direct flights to Dalaman airport from London with a number of different airlines. It’s a 30 min transfer from the airport to the venue.

Maggie brings the Iyengar principles of connection, alignment, extension and balance to her teaching, with a focus on understanding stability and mobility.

She has made 2 visits to Pune, India, to study with the Iyengar family. She is also an independent teacher of Transcendental Meditation and has an MA in Traditions of Yoga and Meditation from University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies. She is a keen philosopher and practitioner of Patanjali’s system.

You will not be fully booked until you have paid a £250 deposit

Maggie may be working with Gitte Bechsgaard (Founder of the Vida Institute and author of Gift of Consciousness, which had BKS Iyengar's stamp of approval) to roll out a more basic version of The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Course, which involves Vedic chanting, philosophy, and embodiment of the teachings through yogasansas, pranayama and the inner limbs of yoga.

Maggie took the course in 2014-15 with Gitte and Sheila Haswell and is keen to pass on this knowledge.

Please contact us if you would be interested in such a course.
